Current Research

I am currently creating algorithms to detect changes in the arrival rates of count data. I am looking at calculating the probability of a change and quickest detection procedures that minimize cost of wrong decision. I have studied both single variable and multiple category data. I have also investigated the cases where the arrival rates before and after the change are both known and unknown. This has multiple applications to industry, education, and medicine.

Current Involvement

I am currently course coordinator for MATH 102 Elementary Statistics, and MATH 201 Business statistics. I am also chair of the Statistics minor. For the University, I am a member of Academic Senate and Academic Standards and Planning. I serve on the Project NExT advisory committee (which organizes teaching workshops for new faculty in the Mathematical Association of America MAA). I am also active in Colonial Heights Free Methodist Church.
