Niagara University Library
Interlibrary Loan & Document Delivery Services for Students
If you are a currently enrolled student, you can use the Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery Service to obtain:

  • Books (but not textbooks), audiovisual materials for classroom use or research, ERIC Documents, and Dissertations/Theses.

  • Photocopies of articles in journals owned by the Library or photocopies that we obtain for you from other libraries in cases where we don't own the journal. Please note that because of Copyright Restrictions, the Library may not copy more than one article from a single journal issue, nor may the Library copy an article if it represents a substantial portion of the issue (for example a fifty page article in a hundred page journal).
Interlibrary loan and document delivery requests are now handled through ILLiad, our interlibrary loan management software.* You will need to register for an ILLiad account before you can request items through interlibrary loan. Click the ILLiad link below to get started (or to log into ILLiad if you already have an account).

*Ontario Teacher Program Education Students: please continue to use the special form below:

Interlibrary Loan Request Form For Ontario Teacher Education Program Students

Please talk to a reference librarian if you need help using ILLiad. Please note: Interlibrary loan requests submitted before November 27 are not lost, but you cannot track them through ILLiad.

The Library is able to obtain 90% of what it asks for via Interlibrary Loan. Books (but not textbooks), photocopies of journal articles (within the restrictions of copyright law), ERIC documents, and many dissertations and theses may be requested through ILL. We can usually obtain audiovisual materials, but they must be for classroom use or research. Unrequestable materials include items on reserve, textbooks used in courses taught at Niagara University, entire issues of journals, and computer software.

Tip: In a hurry? If the article or book you need is owned by another library in Western New York, you can visit that library and use their resources on site (books, databases, journals, photocopiers, etc.).

Please note: if you wish to borrow a book from another Western New York library, we can provide you with an Infopass Card.

For more information, please read the Interlibrary Loan FAQ or contact Samantha Gust, Interlibrary Loan Librarian, at 716-286-8031 or gust@niagara.edu.
