Announcing the WNY/O ACRL Fall 2008 Conference!
The Western New York-Ontario ACRL is pleased to present our fall conference which is to be held at the historic Roycroft Inn in East Aurora.
What are the library services and resources that are most important to the modern student's academic career? In the quest to answer this, libraries have been employing some ingenious methods of collecting information. Please join us as we explore some of these methods.
Our keynote speaker, Nancy Fried Foster of the University of Rochester was instrumental in the fascinating "Studying Students: the undergraduate research project at the university of Rochester". In it Librarians and library staff at the University of Rochester's River Campus Libraries use anthropological methods to understand how students and faculty members do their work, how library resources fit into those work practices, and how the library might grow and change to enhance scholarship. Nancy Fried Foster, the Libraries' anthropologist, will describe many of the methods used at the University of Rochester, discuss the unique value of the anthropological perspective, and share some of the results and outcomes of recent projects.
The registration form (MS Word) is now available, and complete conference details will be available shortly.
