The City of Niagara Falls recently announced that it is considering offering recent college graduates a financial incentive if they relocate to a specific neighborhood downtown. The plan would provide up to $7,000 over two years to those who have received two-year or four-year degrees within the past two years, or those in graduate school. The payments would be used to help graduates pay down their student loans.

The proposal has drawn the attention of numerous high-profile media outlets, including The Buffalo NewsThe Toronto StarThe Huffington Post, CNN and ABC News, among others.

Niagara University’s Institute for Civic Engagement is planning a focus group session on the topic for Saturday, June 23. Breakfast will be served to participants at 9 a.m., with the focus group discussion taking place from 10 to 11:30 a.m.. The focus group is open to current university students and recent graduates.
