NU Theatre will present a readers' theater production of "Hortensia and the Museum of Dreams" by Nilo Cruz will be presented at the Castellani Art Museum. Directed by NU Theatre artist-in-residence Steve Vaughan, the production is a poetic drama about loss and recovery amid the Castellani Art Museum exhibition of Latin American surrealism. Written a year before "Anna in the Tropics," which earned Cruz his Broadway debut and the Pulitzer Prize, the play follows an estranged brother and sister to their childhood home in Cuba for the Pope's visit. After seeing one another, the sister flees and takes refuge in a mystical miraculous place until she is finally able to approach her brother and confront their dark past.
