To Apply

Niagara University’s graduate education application process is self managed. Please submit this application and ALL application materials (including official transcripts) in one packet to:

Once all materials are received, your file will be sent for review to a program adviser, the chair and the dean. Some programs may require an interview with the faculty adviser.

1. $30 U.S. application fee payable to Niagara University.

2. Official transcripts of all colleges and universities attended in a sealed institution envelope included with your application.

3. Two references (academic or professional) in sealed envelopes with the referee’s signature across the seal included with your application. Please use the Niagara University reference form.

4. Statement of Intent. Two-page, double-spaced, typewritten statement discussing your desired program-specific philosophy  (ex. teacher education, educational leadership, special education, counseling, etc.), professional goals, objectives, strengths and weaknesses.

Teacher education, special education, and literacy applicants are not required to take the Graduate Record Examination (General Test Score) or Miller Analogy Test, but applicants with an undergraduate GPA of less than 3.0 may be required to complete a personal interview and writing sample.


Mental health counseling, school counseling, and educational leadership applicants are required to take the GRE or MAT. Niagara University students/graduates with a final (or last two years of course work) GPA of 3.0 or above are not required to take the GRE/MAT.


School psychology applicants, including Niagara University students /graduates, must take the GRE.

Graduate Record Examination (General Test Score) or Miller Analogy Test (Given at Niagara University- 716-286-8536).

 

***For students whose native language is not English, scores on the TOEFL are required.  For the Internet–based TOEFL iBT we require a total score of 103 with scores of at least 23 in listening, 24 in reading, 28 in writing and 28 in speaking***
