Welcome to the website for The Center of Excellence for Catholic Education. The Center is the result of a collaborative partnership between Niagara University and Stella Niagara Education Park.

The purpose of the Center is to provide the vast resources, both human and physical, of both Niagara University and Stella Niagara to respond to the many needs of Catholic schools and Catholic educators in Western New York and Southern Ontario through professional development and research solutions and support. To those ends the Center has developed the following goals:

Incorporate Catholic teaching, knowledge, skills, and experience into professional development and mentoring opportunities for teachers and administrators working in Catholic schools;

Develop working liaisons between Catholic educators and public school curriculum and instructional support systems to coordinate professional development for Catholic education personnel on educational mandates and expectations in New York and Ontario and on research-based practices that enhance teaching and learning across content areas;

Development of pre-service opportunities to prepare educational leaders and teachers in the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values for implementing the vision of Catholic education and integrating the faith into the community of learning;

Facilitate programs and activities that are prepared to meet the unique needs of specific Catholic organizations;

Initiate a regional Catholic education center for carrying out research into Catholic education;

Explore and foster uses of technology to carry out professional development in Catholic education; and

Model the collaboration that exists between Stella Niagara Educational Park and the College of Education at Niagara University through field experiences and other exemplary practices.
