Any enrolled student at Niagara University is eligible to request
counseling. There is no additional cost to
students, beyond their general activity fee.
If you are concerned about a friend or
loved one, inform the student of your concern in a straightforward
manner. Be specific regarding the behavior patterns you have observed.
Suggest that he/she consider personal counseling and refer the student
to Counseling Services.
If the student agrees to the
referral, you may offer to sit with them while they call Counseling
Services to make an appointment or to accompany them to our office.
Except in emergencies, the option should be left open for the student to accept or refuse a referral for counseling.
If
you are unsure about whether to refer, call us. We are always willing
to discuss your concerns about a student and possible courses of action.
