Upcoming:

Niagara University/ReNU Niagara/HUD 2009

Non-Profit Professional Development Series

These sessions are designed specifically for non-profit agency, staff and board members; local residents; and faith-based groups.  The workshops are presented by a HUD representative with comprehensive expertise in  the topic area.

The Basic of Grassroots Fundraising

Date: March 10, 2009: 4pm – 8pm

Location: Niagara University, Dunleavy Hall room 127

Why learn the hard way, learn from those whom have gone before!

In this workshop, the instructor will walk participants through a local organization’s actual fundraising experience.  This small organization had little prior experience and, within two years, raised funds and obtained grants to build a $150,000 playground.  This workshop is ideal for newer, inexperienced faith-based and community grassroots groups that want to learn how to fund community projects or service programs.

Maximizing Grant Opportunities

Date: August 6, 2009: 4pm – 8pm

Location: Niagara University, Dunleavy Hall room 127

Are you stuck trying to figure out how to funding your special project?

This workshop with provide information on the multitude of resources available to grant writers and fundraisers to search for public, private and corporate funding.  The program will also discuss how to get started, ways to approach private and corporate funders and basic grant writing tips.  This workshop is geared to non-profit organizations that have 501(c) 3 designations and a strategic plan or basic project design.

Grants Management and Compliance

Date: October 13, 2009: 4pm – 8pm

Location: Niagara University, Dunleavy Hall room 127

Have you been learning about grants, applying for funding or wondering what you’re getting the organization into if it gets funded?   This course will cover the entire process from what to expect once your agency is awarded the funds all the way to the point when the grant is closed.  Discussions will include the purpose and conditions of the grant agreement, how funds are released, limitations on changes to the grant, management and reporting requirements, audits and compliance monitoring, and overall procurement requirements.  This workshop is designed for organizations that have yet to receive public funds and want to prepare their organization and its controls for future funding.

Pre-registration is required and space is limited.  For more information, call 716-286-8181, or log on to http://www.niagara.edu/cce

Fees: $10 per workshop or save money by registering for all three workshops for only $20.
