Seniors are required to complete a senior check at least two semesters before graduation at about 80 credits (End Junior/Early Senior year).

    • Summer is a great time to beat the Sept./Oct. rush for next year's senior checks. September and October book up quickly, so schedule your check early.

Senior checks allow you to be proactive in pursuing your degree.

    • We will review your official degree requirements, submit your diploma order & contact information for graduation mailings, get your career development packet, look at minors, and fill out the senior survey which helps us to evaluate and improve the college.

Failure to complete a check early or follow your senior check recommendations can jeopardize your ability to graduate.

    • The later you complete a senior check in your senior year, the less opportunities are available to identify and solve issues that might arise.  Senior checks are required before diplomas are ordered or permission is given to participate in commencement.

Senior Checks can be updated.

    • To review your progress, answer any concerns, or update your information

Announcements

It is your responsibility to check your NU email account

    • Official notices and correspondence re: graduation will be sent to that account.

Compare your schedule to your senior check requirements

  • Be careful when dropping and adding classes as a senior.  Doing so can afffect your ability to graduate if your final schedule does not fit with your senior check requirements.

Check that all your transfer/AP/study abroad credit is posted on MyNU

  • Making sure these are posted ensures that you have the correct credits in the system and helps avoid stress later in your senior year.

Make sure that you have officially declared your minors

  • Your minor should appear at the top of your transcript if declared.  Log onto the minor page if you haven't declared your minor.

There is a Learn & Serve requirement for graduation

    • It includes 3 hours of community service integrated into courses or other community service projects through the Learn & Serve Office (Presidential Lounge, O'Shea).

Be sure to log into MyNU to check your midterm grades

  • Double check to be sure that you are doing well in all your classes, and keep in touch with your faculty to be certain of what you need to successfully complete your courses.  Don't risk your graduation by skipping class.
