GPA Caculators

Overall GPA Calculator

Work with your overall GPA

Or

Major / Minor GPA Calculator

Work with a subset of your courses relevant to your major/minor

Both will calculate what you would need to acheive in your current courses to reach a certain GPA.   This will also allow you to see how retaking courses under the F to R Policy can lower the GPA required to achieve your goal.

Overview of the GPA Calculators

    Your Transcript is Required

To use the GPA calculators you will need a copy of your student transcript from Records or a copy of your MyNU transcript.  If you have previously failed a course at NU and are using your MyNU transcript you will must calculate your attempted credits using the following formula.  If you haven't failed a course at NU you may substitute the "earned credits."

MyNU Conversion Formula:  Attempted credits = "Total Grade Points" / "Cumulative GPA".

    Grading Formulas

For each grade on your transcript the quality points are calculated by the following formulas.

Overall Formulas

    • GPA/QPA = Quality Points / Attempted credits
    • Quality Points = GPA x Attempted credits
    • Attempted credits = Quality Points / GPA
