Studying abroad offers the unique ability to experience different cultures and learn more about yourself in the process.  Niagara's Study Abroad Office can help you figure out what program, either through NU, our affiliates (CCIS, AIFS), or elsewhere that might be best suited toward your interests.  Many Arts & Sciences majors encourage study abroad.

Some of the programs are even coordinated with NU faculty and departments, such as the London Theatre Program which is also open to other majors in a modified format.  Criminal Justice, Political Science and International Studies also recently developed a new program which combined NU courses with a study abroad trip to Ireland in the summer.

Whether you are considering a short summer program, or a longer semester program, please use the links below to find out more about other A&S students experiences abroad as well as what options might be just right for you.

Study Abroad Programs & Links

Arriving in IrelandThe following links will help you get started in exploring the common study abroad programs offered through Niagara University.

Study Abroad Processes

Getting Started!

  • Start with the Study Abroad Office where you can find out about different options for studying abroad. Note the deadlines for some programs.

Study Abroad Permission Form

    • Study Abroad Permission Form is available from the Study Abroad Coordinator
    • Non-NU programs require a C grade or higher for courses to be transferable
    • This form will help determine where your study abroad course fit in your program
    • If your courses change while abroad, contact the Dean’s Office or the Study Abroad Coordinator to re-review the new course selections.  This is relatively common.

Advisement & Registration from Abroad?

    • Contact your advisor via email or the phone to discuss your schedule
    • Once you have agreed on a schedule, your advisor can unlock you to register online at the appropriate time or take your registration form directly to Records.
    • If you have trouble registering, please don't hesitate to contact the Dean’s Office.

Official Study Abroad Transcripts

    • Official Transcripts are required to place credit from study abroad programs, so make sure to have official copies sent to NU once you have completed your program.
    • Study abroad transcripts often take several months to arrive on campus
      • This will complicate the graduation date for seniors studying abroad during their last semester
      • Seniors should complete their senior checks before studying abroad or contact the Assistant to the Dean to review their progress if already abroad.
Note: The information on these pages is meant as a supplemental guide for A&S students and advisors.  For official policies please refer to the Niagara University Undergraduate Catalog.
