| Transfer Students: Credit Placement |

Transfer Credit Placement
As part of the Admissions Process, transfer credit will be individually reviewed by the Dean's Office where credit placement is determined according to Niagara University policies and the specific requirements of the curriculum for each major.
GENERAL GUIDELINES:
- Transferable courses must be 3+ credits with a letter grade of a C or higher. NOTE: C- grades or lower do not transfer into NU.
- At least 10 courses on the major side of your curriculum must be taken at NU. Note that major discipline courses can not fit on the general education side of the curriculum card.
- Certain courses need to be taken at NU, including HIS 199 and some major courses.
- Credit cannot be given twice for the same course. Be sure to avoid duplicating courses you may have already completed. If you are unsure whether or not a course is equivalent, err on the side of caution and contact the Dean's Office.
- Credit reviews determine the placement of all credit. Some courses may not be able to be placed based on departmental or university credit policies.
- NOTE: Your transfer grades and GPA does not affect your NU GPA. It starts from scratch based on your NU courses only.
GENERAL EDUCATION FLEXIBILITY: If you transfer in a specific number of transfer credits, certain general education courses become free elective slots to allow for more course flexibility.

Additional Transfer Credit Once You are at NU
All summer or transfer credit taken after you matriculate to NU must be pre-approved using the Transfer Permission Form. Depending on how much transfer credit you bring into Niagara there may be a limit regarding your last ten courses.
-
If you transferred in over 60+ credits, then the last 10 must be from NU
-
If you transferred in less than 60 credits then it may still be possible to transfer additional courses in during the last 10, but they must be pre-approved, able to be transferred, and verified through your senior check requirements.
