Admissions & Scholarship Information

This page is a resource for transfer students that links the College of Arts & Sciences with Transfer Admissions & Financial Aid resources.  Financial Aid and Transfer Scholarships are available to all programs except for Nursing which benefits from a special tuition rate.

Application & Registration Process

Admissions Process

  • The Transfer Admissions Process is highlighted on the Admissions website. Be sure to send your official transcripts and other information directly to Admissions.  Your transfer credits will be reviewed by the Dean's Office during this process.  Mark Wojnowski (716) 286-8718 can help answer your questions at this stage of the process.

Registration

Accepted students will begin to register on the Transfer Registration Day, or if that date has passed, Admissions will connect students directly with an A&S faculty advisor. If you set up an individual appointment, remember to ask Admissions to forward an up-to-date copy of your transfer evaluation (also called a curriculum card) to the advisor with whom you are meeting.

Additional Notes:

  • Be careful to avoid duplicating courses that you may have taken already when you register at Niagara.
  • 5 courses is a normal full-time load at Niagara University (2-3 for Part-time).
  • Transfer students should not need placement testing or NUS 102.

Your First Semester

Getting to Know Niagara University

Niagara University has a variety of policies and suppoprt services, not all of which may be similar to your previous institution.   Explore NU's website, catalog, or ask questions to help with this transition.  Some sources of information can be found at:

Mid-semester

    • Check your transcript on MyNU to verify that your credit has been placed.  This usually occurs in October (Fall) or February (Spring). Missing transcripts credit can affect registration and housing processes. If your credit doesn't appear, it is possible that:

      • Your Admissions file is incomplete
      • Your final transcript has not arrived
      • Your file is in the Dean's office awaiting official placement
    • Check your Midterm Grades through MyNU.  There are a variety of Support Services available if you find yourself struggling.
    • Sign up with your advisor for advisement once the course schedules for next semester are posted.  If you do not know who your advisor is contact your department secretary.
