The College of Arts & Sciences is proud to offer both a Master of Arts degree in

Interdisciplinary Studies, and a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice Administration. 

Both programs consist of 11 courses (33 credit hours).

Master of Science:

 Criminal Justice Administration

Our masters program in Interdisciplinary Studies offers an opportunity to construct an innovative curriculum that crosses traditional disciplinary boundaries, often to answer a specific question or to address a theme of interest to the individual student.

Our masters program Criminal Justice Adminsistration offers an opportunity to prepare for leadership roles , giving you the knowledge and skills necessary for higher-paying positions of greater responsibility upon graduation.

 
   

Non-Matriculated

  Applicants

BS-MS Criminal Justice Students (Credit Request)

Students who wish to take a graduate course in either of the programs above as a non-matriculated student, must have completed their Bachelor's Degree.   Non-matriculated applicants are limited to a maximum of two courses. 

Download the non-matric application to apply and submit it to the appropriate program coordinator at the address above.  Please note that non-matric students still must comply with health immunization records to avoid being withdrawn from the courses.

Students in the BS/MS Program can take up to 3 graduate courses as part of their undergraduate coursework, allowing them the opportunity to complete their Bachelors and Master's degrees within 5 years.

BS-MS students must request that their BS/MS credits be applied to their graduate transcript, once they have completed their BS degree.  To do so please email jps@niagara.edu or make the request in the feedback box below.

Intention to Graduate Form

Candidates in either of our master's programs, must complete the Graduate Diploma Information Form at least one semester before finishing their degree requirements.  This form supplies important information about your diploma and contact information, which is used for important graduation mailings.  Diplomas for May graduation are ordered in February.

  • The form may be turned into the A&S Dean's Office, Dunleavy Hall, 3rd Floor, faxed to (716) 286-8061, or filled out and emailed as an attachment to jps@niagara.edu.

 

Graduation Requirements / Commencement

Masters Graduation Requirements

    • Complete the Graduate Diploma Information Form
    • Fulfill all degree requirements as determined by the Dean's Office.
      • Including all 33 credits of the required coursework
    • Achieve a 3.0 overall graduate GPA
    • Annual Dates for Graduation
      • January, May (Annual Commencement), August

    Graduate Students must have completed all their

    degree requirements to be eligible to walk in the

    May Commencement ceremony.

  • Check in with your faculty when you arrive!

Criminal Justice Graduate Student Reception following Commencement

  • Date: Saturday May 19th, 2007
  • Location: Niagara University, Clet Hall, Heritage Room Lower Level - The entrance is on the side nearest to Alumni Hall.
  • Directions: http://www.niagara.edu/campus/
  • Come mingle with your professors and partake in the food and champagne punch.

Additional Information

  • Spring Mailings about Commencement are sent out by the Dean's Office
  • Canadian Students & Families - Graduation often coincides with Victoria Day, so please leave plenty of time for border crossings to avoid last minute bridge delays.
  • Caps and Gowns will be available later in the spring semester through the campus bookstore.
  • Financial Holds: Diplomas cannot be handed out to students with financial holds.  We recommend checking with Student Accounts the week before graduation to be sure that all balances are paid.  Student Accounts can be reached at 286-8300.
  • Pronunciation Check: If you are concerned about the pronunciation of your name at graduation, please feel free to stop in or call the Dean's Office at 286-8060 to verify the correct pronunciation.
