What do I do if I miss class for a medical reason or a death in your family?
Notify or have someone notify the Dean's office (ahead of time if possible) about the abscence.
When you return bring official documentation to the Dean's Office. This could include a note from your Doctor or the hospital for a medical reason or a funeral card/obituary. This official documentation will be sent out to all your faculty.
Please note that attendance policies and missed work policies are determined by individual faculty on their syllabi. While official documentation may help, the decision is up to the faculty based on their attendance policy.
