Departmental News
The Chemistry Department's Work Study Program

The currently developed program gives students the chance to further their experience in the laboratory.  Within the first semester of this program students have the chance to become more familiar with lab instruments, techniques, preparation of labs and at real life job experience.  The participants are either paid through Financial Aid's Work Study Program or are volunteer.  Some of the volunteers are requested by the department the following year and then become paid.  Summer opportunities are also available.  Generally there is a limit to the number of students in the work study program; but if a science major has work study money available I try to fit that person in to the department at some stage of work.

The future of the work study program is to become more of an internship.  Student will be able to receive credit and have a more detailed experience.

Other work study positions are available through other area's in our department; which include: Physics, Various Research Projects in Organic (Polymer/Medicinal), Analytical (Instrumental), Biochemistry and Computational Chemistry.
