The student center at Niagara is housed in the Gallagher
Center. This building was built in 1950 and was
named after John J. "Taps" Gallagher who guided the
Purple Eagles for 31 seasons, beginning 1931.
The upper level of the Gallagher Center is the home
of the Niagara's Purple
Eagles men's and women's basketball
teams and the Athletics Office.
The lower level of Gallagher Center is the pulse
of the students' life at Niagara. The student center offers
a relaxing atmosphere for students to eat, study or watch television
on cushioned chairs and couches provided for their comfort.
The Campus Activities
Office is located in the front of the center and is open
to students for any assistance needed.
The foodcourt-style snack bar, also located in the
student center, offers a wide variety of fast foods including Vinny's
Pizzeria, Taco Bell and Sub Connection. This is a nice alternative
to students who regularly eat meals on campus at Clet
Dining Hall, as well as a great convenience for commuter students
and the Niagara University staff and administration.
Students wishing to study in the student center may
use the Gallagher Study Lounge which offers a quiet study setting
with tables and chairs. It can accommodate situations ranging
from individual study to group study sessions. This room
may be reserved by students, clubs and organizations, or by Niagara
University staff by calling the Campus
Activities Office at 286-8510.
"Under the Taps" offers a quieter setting
for student gatherings with booths, a television and cushioned
seating. A piano is provided for students wishing to play. The
game room is also located "Under the Taps" offering students
a recreation area for their enjoyment.
Several offices are located in the Gallagher Center
for the students' convenience including Financial
Aid Office, Records, Campus
Ministry, NUSGA, Student Life, Multicultural and International
Student Affairs, Athletics, and Marketing.
