The N ZONE is the official Niagara University student spirit/cheering organization. Dedicated to school spirit and cheering on our Purple Eagles, all undergraduate NU students are invited to join the sea of purple!! 

Our Mission

To promote pride in Niagara Athletics by creating an exciting atmosphere at the Gallagher Center for basketball, and Dwyer Arena for hockey.  Keeping respect and responsibility in mind, this atmosphere can only be attained with the positive, active participation of all of our members. No matter win or lose, we will stand behind our Purple Eagles!

Some of our goals include:

• Increase student spirit on campus and at all athletic events.
• Create a fun environment for all members and in turn, solidify a home court/ice advantage.
• Provide a great social opportunity to meet new people through the interest of athletics.
• Serve as student ambassadors of Niagarea Athletics and act with enthusiasm, integrity and sportsmanship.

The N ZONE student spirit section cheers on our Purple Eagles at men's basketball games in the "Purple Palace" known as the Gallagher Center and at men's hockey games at the icy confines of Dwyer Arena.  In addition, N ZONE members are encouraged to attend marquee women's basketball and women's hockey games. 

Why should students be a part of the N ZONE? 

Because cheering as one, unified Sea of Purple is the best way to root for the Purple Eagles!

HISTORY

The N ZONE was establilshed in fall of 2004 specifically for our men's basketball team, about 100 members of the N ZONE played a large role in the team going undefeated at home 12-0 and a tie for the regular season MAAC championship. We then cheered our team onto a post-season MAAC Tournament Championship and a berth in the NCAA tournament for the first time in school history in 35 years!  The season culminated with 25 N ZONE memebers accompianying the team to Tucson, Arizona for the first round of the NCAA tournament where we battled Oklahoma extremely hard.  What an inaugural season for the N ZONE it was!

The 2005-2006 academic year saw the N ZONE expand in both members and sports!  The size of the N ZONE grew to over 400, four times more than of our inaugural season!  A total of over 3,600 student fans attended the men's home basketball and hockey games!

The N ZONE is completely dedicated to cheering on other Purple Eagle athletic teams in addiiton to men's basketball including but not limited to men's hockey, women's basketball, and women's hockey!  For 2006-2007, we strive to grow even more and ensure a spirited and enjoyable game experience for all students!  This promises to be a great year for the N ZONE!
