Letter from the Director
Winter / Spring 2007

Rose Gellman, her daughter, Dr. Margot Gellman-Lacey, and CAM director Laurene Buckley at the gala. Rose Gellman, her daughter, Dr. Margot Gellman-Lacey, and CAM director Laurene Buckley at the gala.

The best news to report is the success of our fourth annual gala, which grossed a whopping $47,590. This income partially funds several salaries and consultants’ fees, many of our educational programs, and general operations. We are grateful to our Advisory Council, to the many businesses, and to those individuals who participated in the event or supported it with funds. Thanks also to our wonderful gala committee and corps of volunteers and staff. A special announcement at the gala came from Armand and Eleanor Castellani’s children, who contributed $20,000 towards our education and exhibition programs related to the permanent collection. Recent government grants, from New York State’s Agritourism Matching Grant Initiative, New York State Council on the Arts, and the National Endowment for the Arts totaled $107,500. Please take a moment to read about all of the upcoming activities planned with you in mind. Special discounts are waiting for you with a membership as well as in our museum shop. Gift certificates and memberships for friends loudly proclaim your belief in all that we are doing!

Laurene Buckley, Ph.D.
