Letter from the Director
Spring / Summer 2006

As the warm weather comes our way, the Castellani heats up its own set of spring and summer activities. We celebrate our Niagara County art collectors with a show that begins May 5. We recognize quilters from our local African-American communities in an exhibition that opens on May 15 at our satellite gallery in Niagara Falls. And we continue to feature our regional artists with the next TopSpin opening of Ani Hoover’s work on June 2. The Castellani and NU Theatre are partnering once again for our summer arts camp that ends each week with a performance and art exhibition. One last First Friday happens on May 5, with the Orengue Latin World Trio and special Cinco de Mayo evening. The next big events will be the opening of our Underground Railroad Regional Interpretive Center on September 15 and our fourth annual gala on September 30, with art auctions, an exquisite dinner, and fabulous entertainment. Save those dates for sure! The biggest news is that we have now added to our curatorial, education, facility, and administrative departments the function of a development officer, with the hiring of Susan Clements, Coordinator of Publicity, Events, Membership, and Business Sponsorships. This should add tremendously to the museum’s outreach and visibility. Stop in anytime. We’ll keep the coffee brewing
