BREAD AND THE ’70s!

 |
The fall season at museums is usually the time to announce the next big exhibition, the coming educational programs, and a huge fundraiser – after a summer of planning. The CAM staff is doing both, but we also kept going all summer with activities – successfully starting up our first ever summer arts camp (kids ‘n arts), displaying five exhibitions (see calendar: “Last Chance”), and opening the satellite gallery in the new Conference Center Niagara Falls. “Bread” is, appropriately enough, a focus of our autumn celebrations. Come see what a contemporary artist can do with bread as a medium. Apo Torosyan also uses bread to speak to us about immigration issues, a concurrent theme for an adjunct show and programs featuring traditional breadmaking within our regional communities. Were you “disco-ing” in the 1970s? Join us for the opening of “Flash Back to the ‘70s” and return to the yesterdays of our youth – or your parents’ youth! This theme will spread far and wide at the museum: for the October 16 gala “Saturday Night Fever”; for our family Saturday workshops (ART EXPRESS); for the museum’s section of Niagara University’s alumni weekend, and for many of our First Fridays (starting up again October 1).
See you soon – and often – at the Castellani!
