Advisement & Student Information

 

Student Responsibilities

  • AEP students meet with their advisor three times a semester
  • AEP students should be checking their Niagara University email on a regular basis for updates from AEP or other offices on campus.  (i.e. updates that can affect registration may come from health services, student accounts and financial aid.)
  • Appointments should be scheduled by stopping by the Academic Exploration office in St. Vincent's Annex or by calling 716-286-8203. Please notify the AEP office if you cannot keep your advisement appointment.
  • It is important to be prepared for your advisement appointment for the advisement session to be most productive.

Appointment 1

Scheduled during the first month of classes.

Fall Spring
Freshmen: review DISCOVER with your advisor. Freshmen: discuss an appropriate semester activity and review where you are in your decision making process.
Sophomores: review where you are in your decision making process and discuss an appropriate semester activity. Sophomores: discuss an appropriate semester activity and review where you are in your decision making process.

Appointment 2

Scheduled during the second month of the semester.

Fall Spring
Freshmen: continue discussion on possible major choices and participate in preadvisement for the spring. Freshmen: review semester activity and participate in preadvisement for the fall.
Sophomores: review semester activity and participate in preadvisement for the spring. Sophomores: review semester activity and participate in preadvisement for the fall.

Appointment 3

Scheduled during the third month of the semester.

Fall Spring
Freshmen: finalize schedule for spring, bring schedule worksheet with course selections and planned sections, sign advisement card, become unlocked for registration. Freshmen: finalize schedule for fall, bring schedule worksheet with course selections and planned sections, sign advisement card, become unlocked for registration.
Sophomores: finalize schedule for spring, bring schedule worksheet with course selections and planned sections, sign advisement card, become unlocked for registration. Sophomores: finalize schedule for fall, bring schedule worksheet with course selections and planned sections, sign advisement card, become unlocked for registration.

Registration Information

  1. The registration dates published in the course offerings book specify your first opportunity to register and is made available near the 8th week of the semester.
  2. Your advisement appointments should be completed prior to the published date take advantage of that first opportunity.
  3. Advised students without holds are eligible to register for classes from the published registration window until just prior to the commencement of the following semester.
  4. Your advisor will be available to you to field any scheduling concerns, i.e. closed out of a class, needing a final class, etc.
  5. There are two ways to register for classes:
    1) Online through Web Advisor, this is accessed through MyNu. Please review the instructions for online registration.
    2) Register at the Records Office. Bring your signed advisement card to the Records Office once your published registration window opens.
