The Class of 1999 revitalized the tradition of a senior class gift program and raised enough donations to fund the purchase and planting of a maple tree in the grotto located behind Gallagher (see picture at left). As the last class of the century and the first class to resume this tradition, the Class of 1999 issued the challenge to all future senior classes to top their gift.
The Classes of 2000 and 2001 combined their goal over a two-year period. The 2000-2001 Senior Challenge goal was set at $2,000 to recognize the turn of the century. Money raised by the Challenge (and a special gift donated by Brian and Kathleen Mylod) funded the purchase and installation of a custom-made clock which now hangs in the entranceway of the renovated St. Vincent's Hall. This gift commemorates the passing of time even as the Classes of 2000 and 2001 no longer walk the halls of Vinny's.
The Class of 2002 felt the philanthropic mode of the country last year and donated their dollars right back to the university. Almost $500 was contributed to benefit the students following in their footsteps.
The Senior Challenge is a great opportunity for the senior class to join together one last time to accomplish something that will impact the campus community and future generations of Niagara students!
