Each year at Niagara, classes celebrating five-year class anniversaries (5th, 10th, 15th, etc.) are assigned a class goal to work toward throughout their anniversary year. This special reunion-year goal is based upon the average give of each class as a whole during the last five years. Volunteers from each class (Class Agents) contact their classmates and friends and encourage each one to make a gift to the Anniversary Campaign and to attend the Reunion Weekend activities scheduled in October.
The Alumni Anniversary Campaign, the Niagara Fund's reunion giving program, is a special fundraising initiative which involves only those alumni who are celebrating class anniversaries during the current year. It also promotes friendly competition between the anniversary classes as graduates from each class band together to achieve their class goal before the results are announced during Reunion Weekend. The classes achieving the highest percentage of participation, the highest average gift and the largest total gift will be recognized during Reunion Weekend activities.
The Importance of Class Agents
The success of the Anniversary Campaign is dependent upon the efforts of volunteers from each class who promote the Anniversary Campaign amongst their classmates. Those individual gifts are then combined with the gifts of other classmates to make one large class gift, which makes an even greater impact upon the campus community.
The gifts are then disbursed where they will produce the most immediate results - technological upgrades, improved student services and enhanced curricular materials.
During the anniversary year, Class Agents will select a number of classmates whom they will contact personally during the months leading up to Reunion Weekend and ask for their participation in the special campaign. Agents record their progress with each classmate to the Niagara Fund Office. The Niagara Fund staff then tracks the success of each class.
How can you help?
Say "yes" to one of the Niagara Fund appeals - a phone call from a classmate or a current Niagara student, a pledge form in the Eagle alumni magazine, or an appeal letter from the university. Please consider upgrading your usual gift in recognition of your anniversary. This special gift will help the university continue its tradition of excellence and at the same time push your class closer to its class goal.
