Dr. Shih-Jen Kathy Ho has been on the faculty at Niagara University since 1996.  She earned her Ph.D. from Syracuse University in 1988.  Before joining NU, Dr. Ho taught at SUNY at Albany for ten years.  In addition to extensive industry experience, she has conducted field projects at health maintenance organizations.  She specializes in cost and management information systems.  In the past ten years, she had fifteen articles published in top-tier accounting journals such as the Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, and top-tier health care management journals such as Healthcare Management Review and Hospital and Health Services Administration.  Dr. Ho also writes for practitioner’s journals, such as the CPA Journal, and the Government Accountants Journal.  Her recent manuscript on Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 Lessons Learned was accepted by the CPA Journal in July 2006 for publication.

Dr. Ho is the Director of the Center for International Accounting Education and Research.  She has been involved with the organization of the annual international accounting conference since 1999.  The 2006 international accounting conference was held in Padua, Italy, and the 2007 conference will be held in Guanajuato, Mexico.  Dr. Ho is very active in the New York Society of CPAs.  She is the Chair of the one-on-one program that introduces careers in accounting to area high school students.  She is currently a member of the Niagara University Senate, and serves a local church in various capacities.  She also served as the secretary of a worldwide accounting association for two terms.  Dr. Ho is a member of the American Accounting Association, Institute of Management Accountants, Financial Management Association International, and Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
